Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to “set up a presidential panel of enquiry to promptly probe the grim allegations that over 149 million barrels of crude oil are missing.” According to the 2019 audited report by the Auditor-General over 107 million barrels of crude oil were lifted as domestic crude without any document or tracing. Nigeria’s oil and condensate reserves as at January 1, 2023 stand at 36.966 billion barrels, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) says. This represents 31.060 billion barrels for oil and 5.906 billion barrels for condensate.
