A shooting at a Jehovah’s Witnesses hall, Hamburg left eight people dead, including the perpetrator, German police stated Thursday. Police have not given a death toll, but multiple local media outlets reported that the shooting left seven dead  while eight were seriously injured. Akwa Ibom State High Court, Uyo, on Thursday granted bail to a 22-year-old prison inmate, together with her bouncing baby girl in Uyo Correctional Centre after spending more than one year in detention. Troops of 13 Brigade Nigerian Army, Calabar, deployed for Operation Akpakwu, have rescued the  Commissioner for Women Affairs in Cross River, Professor Gertrude Njar, after 35 days in captivity. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has postponed the governorship and state houses of assembly elections by one week. The elections earlier scheduled for Saturday March 11 will now hold on Saturday March 18, the commission said in a statement by its spokesperson and INEC Commissioner for Voter Education, Festus Okoye, on Wednesday night. The family of Professor Gertrude Nnanjar Njar of Cross River State Commissioner for Women Affairs kidnapped more than one month ago is jittery over her safety. Prof Gertrude was kidnapped by armed men dressed in military fatigue in the early hours of February 1, 2023, on Atamunu Street in Calabar while on her way to the office in her official Renault car.
