The Supreme Court has dismissed the case of Mr. Aniekan Etim, one of the governorship aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State. Etim had sought the court to join him in an ongoing pre-election matter at the Federal High Court, Uyo now before Justice Agatha Okeke. In the matter, Akan Okon, an aspirant in the May 26 PDP Governorship primary, is suing Pastor Umo Eno, Akwa Ibom governorship candidate, over alleged forgery of certificates. Former Nigerian Minister of Aviation, Femi Fan-kayode and Senator Dino Melaye are sparring at each other in the social media Over attacks on their political friends. The Federal High Court, Abuja, Tuesday, ordered the committal of the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, to prison over contempt. The court presided by Justice Chizoba Oji also directed the Inspector-General of Police to ensure the committal order is executed. Facebook-parent Meta will become the latest tech firm to scale back its workforce, with plans to lay off thousands of employees this week, the United States media reported Sunday. Akwa Ibom State floored two major African cities to host a permanent Africa Regional Office complex of a 10,000-capacity International Conference Centre, courtesy of International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI). Uyo in Nigeria’s Akwa Ibom beat such cities as Cape Town in South Africa and Kigali in Rwanda. The House of Representatives is planning to appropriate N170 billion fund in the 2023 budget for payment of salaries to Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) members. Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, stated this in a statement on Monday, saying the move will provide a level of increment in the welfare package of university lecturers. The Imo State Police Command has quizzed two suspects for alleged gruesome murder of Miss Joy Uchechi Nwachukwu, a cashier of a gas plant in Owerri, Imo State capital. It is reported that that Nwachukwu was allegedly killed by her co-workers and her body buried in a shallow grave within the premises of the gas plant. An Akure High Court has stopped electricity distribution companies from giving estimated bills to residents and business premises without providing prepaid meters to determine appropriate tariffs. Justice Adegboyega Adebusoye, in his verdict, held that failure to fix prepaid meters to customers, residents or business premises when the money had been paid amount to breach of contract.
