Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, has reportedly filed for asylum in Benin Republic. As 3,008 inmates are on the death row at custodial facilities across the country, the Nigerian Minister of Interior, Mr Rauf Aregbesola has requested governors to sign their death warrant. Speaking while inaugurating the newly constructed headquarters of the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS in Osogbo, Osun state capital on Friday July 23, the Minister said jail congestion is the major headache of the Service. Unrest in South Africa this month has claimed 337 lives, the government said on Thursday, marking yet another jump in the death toll from the 276 announced the previous day.
