The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in Akwa Ibom has condemned the proliferation of gas shops near residential areas in the state. Tot actualise its agenda, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) intends to borrow $3.8 billion to acquire a 20 per cent stake in Dangote Refinery. NNPC Group Managing Director, Mallam Mele Kyari, said Tuesday that the money would be borrowed from financial institutions. The 650,000 barrels per day refinery located in Lagos State, expected to come on stream in 2022, will produce 50 million litres of petrol per day. The Federal Government has re-arrested and repatriated the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu to Nigeria. The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN), who told journalists on Tuesday, June 29 revealed that Kanu was arrested and brought back to the country on Sunday, June 27. A jobless Indian who is now serving more than 1,000 years’ jail for raping his step daughter has applied to set aside his conviction and sentence. Lawyer K A Ramu said the accused had filed a notice of appeal to the High Court from the Kajang Prison recently.
