The fate of striking Nigerian resident doctors and other health workers appears to be sealed as Federal government has directed that they won’t be paid for the period they are on strike. A memo by the Ministry of Labour and Employment affecting the ongoing strike by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), has advised the Federal Ministry of Health to implement the ‘no work, no pay’ directive for the striking doctors. The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has queried Channels Television over an interview granted to Benue Governor Samuel Ortom. Recall that NBC fined Channels Television N3 million over its “unprofessional coverage” of the EndSARS protests and the crisis that followed it in October 2020. In April 2021, the commission suspended the broadcast licence of Channels Television and imposed a N5 million fine on the station for alleged breach of the broadcast code in its live programme entitled: Politics Today.
