Joint Task Force has nabbed 10 suspects over the killing of security operatives and burning of police facilities in the last few weeks in Akwa Ibom State. The JTF operatives while on routine operations arrested the suspects in Essien Udim Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. Gunmen have killed Senior Special Assistant to Benue Governor Samuel Ortom on Security, AIG Christopher Dega (retired) in Jos, Plateau State Capital. Jega was said to have been shot in the chest several times by the gunmen on Tuesday, June 1. Gunmen on Monday invaded the residence of Professor Godswill Obioma, strangling him in what his wife suspected to be an assassination, People’s Gazette reported. “The assassins came in and killed him and left without taking anything,” Elizabeth Obioma told Peoples Gazette by telephone on Tuesday morning. Weeping profusely, Mrs Obioma said her husband had just returned to Minna from a trip to Abuja when the armed men, lurking in his compound, descended on him and strangled him. Palpable fear has gripped the people of South East Region in Nigeria, following the declaration of a sit-at-home order issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
