The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has threatened a nationwide strike over failure of the Federal Government to reconstitute Governing Councils for Federal Universities. The union faulted what it described as the nonchalant attitude of the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government to matters pertaining to academics in Nigerian Federal Universities. A 25-year-old man identified as Elisha has allegedly dismembered his girlfriend in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital. The suspect killed the girl said to be a nurse on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at about 7:00 a.m. at the suspect’s residence close to Beulah International Nursery and Primary Schools, Atiku Abubakar Way, Uyo. Man has been sentenced to death by stoning by a Sharia Court in Ningi, the headquarters of Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, for alleged homos3xuality. Abdullahi Sani from Unguwar Makara Huta was found guilty of the offence as charged by the court presided by Sharia Judge, Abdullahi Aliyu Doya on May 10, 2024.
