Nine oil-producing states received a total of N620.23 billion from the federation account as 13 per cent derivation from January to May 2025 with Delta, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom States leading the beneficiaries. Data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), show that the amount represents a 101.3 per cent increase compared with the N308.19 billion shared during the same period of 2024. The Akwa Ibom State Police Command picked 63 suspects and rescued 22 trafficking victims in two months this year. This was as the command announced sweeping security breakthroughs in the fight against violent crime, cultism, kidnapping, and human trafficking across the state. The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recovered human skull, arrested seven suspected cultists and uncovered one locally made gun from their hideout in the state. Other items recovered include spent packs of cartridges and liquid substances in a bottle believed to have been used for rituals by the cultists. According to family sources, the one-time chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), passed away at Cedar Crest Hospital, Abuja,  after battling an undisclosed ailment.
