Senator Rochas Okorocha representing Imo West Senatorial district, in Nigeria’s Senate is facing prosecution for daring Governor Hope Uzodinma administration. Okorocha, who is the immediate past Imo State governor, was arrested by the police Sunday evening, February 21. His alleged offence was unsealing a hotel owned by his wife, Nkechi seized by the state government. Seven personnel perished in the military aircraft that crashed in Abuja on Sunday, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed. The military aircraft, Beechcraft King Air B350i, crashed at Bassa Airport Village on Sunday morning, February 21, after reporting engine failure. Earlier, Straightnews had reported that six persons were feared dead in the crash based on the suspected number of persons said to be onboard the aircraft. The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has lifted the ban on Boeing 737 Max Aircraft in the airspace following two accidents involving the aircraft model. Its Director General, Captain Musa Nuhu who stated this at the weekend said the aircraft type has consequently been granted approval to operate in the airspace effective February 12, 2021. Six persons onboard the aircraft are feared dead as military aircraft, King Air 350, crashed on the runway in Abuja on Sunday. Some suspected members of Boko Haram have allegedly hoisted their flag in some parts of Marte Local Government Area of Nigeria’s Borno State. Military sources told Channels Television that the insurgents attacked the local government area within the week and neighbouring Dikwa Local Government Area on Friday, February 19. Confirmed cases of COVID-19 rose slightly in Ontario Friday, with 1,228 new cases reported Saturday by Ontario Health. However, the number of resolved cases also increased by 1,313. There were 28 more deaths attributed to the pandemic. Ontario’s hot spots continue to be Toronto (with 331 more cases), Peel Region (228) and York Region (132).
