The 70-year-old man, who raped a five-year-old girl, has been arrested by the Benue State Police Command. Nicholas Akeh was arrested and taken to the Police Headquarters in Makurdi on Tuesday, February 9. Spokesperson of the command, DSP Catherine Anene, who confirmed the incident to Daily Trust, said the “suspect is in police custody and investigation is in progress.” Akeh is said to be a neighbour and close family relative of the victim’s parent and has been living with HIV positive for the past 20 years.
