Women account for a smaller proportion of COVID-19 infections and deaths than men, a preliminary analysis by the World Health Organisation (WHO) in 28 African countries shows. The family of a 16-year-old girl gang-raped by three men in Eyoabasi community, Oron Local Government Area of the state is unhappy with Akwa Ibom Police Command over what is seen as poor handling of the matter. The Federal Government has granted Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) approval to establish dedicated SIM Swap Centres in the 774 local government areas in Nigeria. The government also approved the extension of the tenure of National Identity Number (NIN) enrolment agents’ licences for MNOs from one to five years, considering their satisfactory performances.
