As the price for premium motor spirit (petrol) rose to 12.88 per cent, Nigerians paid more for it in January 2021, National Bureau of Statistics, NBS says. In its monthly report released on its website, the Bureau revealed that the average price paid by consumers for premium motor spirit (petrol) increased by 12.88% year-on-year and decreased month-on-month by -0.97% to N164.09 in January 2021 from N165.70 in December 2020. Amidst tears, the remains of seven Nigerian Air Force officers were, Thursday, interred at the National Cemetery, Lugbe, Airport Road, Abuja. The officers died Sunday in the Beechcraft King Air B350i which crashed a short distance from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, after reporting engine failure. Runaway driver has been arrested and detained for allegedly killing four female hawkers in Anambra State. The truck driver was said to be running from revenue collectors in the area when he suddenly lost control and crushed the four at Upper Iweka flyover in Onitsha, the commercial hub of the state, on Wednesday, February 24. Ghana, Wednesday, became the first country to receive COVID-19 vaccines as part of the COVAX initiative to ensure equitable access for everyone. The country took delivery of 600,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine made by the Serum Institute of India (Covishield). Marte Town in Borno State, which was under the custody of Boko Haram terrorists, has been recovered by troops, the Nigerian Army confirmed on Tuesday February 23.
