Militants under the aegis of Niger Delta Liberation Force (NDLF) have issued a 14-day ultimatum to Governor Udom Emmanuel to publish federal allocations to local government areas in Akwa Ibom State. The agitators asked the governor to make public records of all council allocations received by the state from June 2015 till date, failing which they will stage a mass protest which may lead to some grave impacts on the state. Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo and 12 other stadiums have been approved by the League Management Company for the 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season in the country. The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) and Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Lai Mohammed, have been dragged to court by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), 261 concerned Nigerians, civil society and media groups for sanctioning three private television stations in the country. US Forces, Saturday, October 31, rescued an American citizen taken hostage by armed men in Niger and held in the Northern part of Nigeria. The mission was undertaken by elite commandos as part of a major effort to free the US citizen, Philip Walton, 27, before his abductors could get far after taking him captive in Niger on October 26. For the first time since the outbreak of COVID-19 in Nigeria, Gombe State has recorded an all-time high 54 new infections, thus topping Lagos State as new epicentre in the pandemic. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced a second national lockdown for England to prevent a “medical and moral disaster” for the NHS. Johnson said Christmas may be “very different” but he hoped taking action now would mean families can gather.
