The Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC, has recovered N 57.7 billion unremmitted tax revenue from banks. The Head, Public Relations of the commission, Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed, stated in a statement, in Abuja, Sunday, that the federal government’s share of N48.7 billion had been paid into the Federation Account. Mohammed added that the balance of N9.7 billion which relates to withholding tax of dividends has also been paid to the beneficiary state governments. The Federal Government has taken the verification and payment of ex-workers of the defunct Nigeria Airways Limited, NAL, in Diaspora to London, United Kingdom (UK). Federal Ministry of Finance officials stated that the exercise would last two weeks, beginning Monday. The exercise to be conducted by an inter-ministerial team would take place at the Nigerian High Commission Complex in London. Kano State emirate council has vowed to sue the state anti-corruption agency for contempt of court. In a letter dated June 20, addressed to the chairman of Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, counsel to the emirate counsel, N.A. Dagiri, said the commission had defied subsisting court orders to invite elderly members of the council for investigations. President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered a thorough investigation to determine what was responsible for the gas pipeline tragedy in Kom Kom, Oyibo local government area of Rivers. Buhari, in a statement by Malam Garba Shehu, his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, in Abuja on Saturday, however, condoled with the people and government of Rivers over the death of some workers in gas pipeline tragedy in the state.
