Former Senate President, Iyorchia Ayu on Thursday, emerged as the consensus chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Sequel to the zoning, Senator Ayu emerged as the consensus candidate after a marathon meeting of the Northern Caucus of the PDP on Thursday.
The North Caucus is made up of party leaders from the North Central, Northeast and the Northwest geopolitical zones.
The meeting was held at the Bauchi State Governors’ Lodge, Asokoro, in the nation’s capital, Abuja.
The new chairman-in-waiting will be presented for approval at the next National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in the days ahead.
