Akakan Umoh
Tension mounted in Akwa Ibom as two religious groups announced suspension of the much-publicised three-day revival crusade be anchored by a Kenyan, Prophet David Owuor, throwing thousands of expectant worshippers into confusion and limbo.
The dramatic suspension announced few hours before the commencement of the revival crusade may not be unconnected with the cancellation of a one-week crusade by Pastor Yinka Yusuf earlier slated from February 9-15, 2026 in Uyo.
Uyo Capital City Development Authority had written to Pastor Yusuf to shift his crusade a week longer due to ‘‘insecurity issues’’ and Pastor who argued that he could not do so later cancelled the crusade, thus enabling CAN and PFN to announce the hosting of Prophet Owuor for healing crusade.

A press release issued by the Nigeria Christian Revival Forum (NCRF) and Christian Association of Nigeira (CAN), Akwa Ibom State, announced the suspension of the crusade due to inability by the Prophet to secure travelling documents to Nigeria.
The release, signed by Archbishop Senator Helen Esuene, Convener, Rev’d Isang Eyoumoh, Secretary, CAN and Rev’d Ima Nkanta, Secretary, Nigeria Christian Revival Forum dated Thursday, February 12, said ‘‘We want to inform all invitees and the general public that the 3-day Nigeria Mission 2026 scheduled to begin on Friday, 13 February to Sunday, 15 February at the International Christian Worship Centre, Uyo, has been suspended.’’
According to the religious groups, ‘‘The reason is due to the inability of the Speaker, Prophet Dr David Owuor, to secure travelling documents to Nigeria.
‘‘Further information on when the Nigeria Mission with the Prophet will hold will be announced once travelling arrangements are secured.
‘‘We regret all inconveniences this has caused all intending participants. ‘’

However, Iris Samuel, Facebook writer in her page wrote ‘‘Prophet David Owuor the “August visitor” from Kenya may not make it to his crusade in Uyo which is scheduled to begin on Friday this week.
‘‘Information reaching me has it that the Ministry of Interior has withheld his passport upon his arrival into the country.
‘‘At the moment, sponsors and senior organising members of the scheduled meeting are doing everything within their power to resolve the situation.’’
According to her, ‘‘Should this impasse continue, I have a feeling that Pastor Yinka Yusuf would be giggling with a sigh of relief or maybe, mischief.
‘‘You see, for me the hullabaloo surrounding the forced cancellation of one programme to favour another was very unnecessary,’’ she added.
Owuor’s Claims
David Owuor, a popular Kenyan prophet claims he’s the Elijah that was to come. He also claims to be the two witnesses mentioned in the book of Revelation that would appear on earth at the close of this age.
Any time he preaches on the altar, his cameramen split his image through some doctoring technics to make double image of him so that the viewers can see two person in white preaching further proving the two witnesses the Bible predicted long time ago.
He further claims that he will be k!ll€d In Jerusalem and after three days he will resurrect before disappearing to Heaven.
Owuor claims to perform all kinds of miracles which he uses to bamboozle many gullible Kenyans and he has great following.
