A married woman has expressed shock over the alleged shooting of her partner’s head and friend’s thigh by Burna Boy’s escort at Club Cubana in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, known professionally as Burna Boy, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and performing artist.

Straightnews learned that following the incident, Usman Alkali Baba, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), ordered the arrest, and probe of the policemen attached to popular musician Burna Boy who was involved in the shooting.

In a statement through the Force PRO, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Usman said “the Police personnel alleged and identified in the shooting incident at Club Cubana in Victoria Island, Lagos on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, have been taken into custody and are being investigated for their involvement in the incident”.

The IGP, who described the circumstances surrounding the incident as unbelievable, condemned, in the strongest terms, the unfortunate incident.

He directed the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Abiodun Alabi, to carry out a thorough investigation into the matter and forward his report as urgently as possible for further action.

Taking to her social media page, the woman who was allegedly accosted by Burna boy and her partner shot in the process narrate her side of the story for the first time.

According to her, she and her partner were visiting Nigeria from America and London for their childhood friend’s wedding on June 8, 2022.

”Around 3 am, they went to Cubana Club and were having fun in the VIP section.

”One of Burna Boy’s friends came to where they were and told her that Burna Boy wanted to talk to her.”

She declined, telling him that she is not interested, and she is a married woman. Burna Boy’s friend came back the second time, she declined.

”It was the third time that her friend reacted, telling Burna Boy’s friend to stop coming for her, a situation that resulted in a fight and the club security were able to settle it at first.

”Everyone was slowly going back to their seat when two of Burna Boy’s friends sprung up another fight.

”The lady said that they started shooting after receiving some kind of signal from Burna Boy.

”Her partner and his friend were shot with both needing urgent medical care.

”A bullet hit her partner’s head, and his friend was shot in the thigh, leaving them hospitalized,” the woman narrated.

She added that one of her friends tried to get Burna Boy to calm the situation, but he only laughed at him and proceeded to get in his car whilst being protected by his security.

     Obi Cubana reacts

The Chairman of Cubana Group, Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has addressed the shooting that took place at one of his clubs, Club Cubana, in Victoria Island, Lagos State.

Popster, Burna Boy’s police escorts were alleged to have shot and wounded two patrons of the club, Lawrence and Tolu, in the early hours of Wednesday, June 8, 2022.
