The Lagos State government on Monday announced indefinite  closure of all Chrisland Schools in the state.
This comes after a 10-year-old pupil allegedly ganged-raped by her classmates during World School Games held in Dubai between March 10-13, 2022 was suspended by her Chrisland Schools.
This is as the Lagos State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the sex scandal involving students of Chrisland Schools, Lagos.
Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Police Command stated this in a statement on Monday.
“Yes, we have commenced investigation into it. No one has reported the issue to us but we saw it on social media and we have swiftly commenced our investigation into the case,” Hundeyin said.

The statement read, “The attention of the Lagos State Government has been drawn to the alleged sexual violence case involving students of Chrisland Schools which occurred in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

“It is pertinent to note that all allegations are being investigated by the relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies, including the Ministry of Education, Office of Education Quality Assurance, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Ministry of Justice and the Lagos State Domestic & Sexual Violence Agency, whilst the criminal allegations have been escalated to the Commissioner of Police.

Given the allegations, we are committed to ensuring that adequate medical and psychosocial support is provided.

“This is to reassure members of the public of the State Government’s commitment to safety and child protection, especially in ensuring that all child-centred institutions within the state, formulate and implement policies and systems that are compliant with the Executive Order (NO.EO/AA08 of 2016), Lagos State Safeguarding and Child Protection Program.

“We also use this medium to remind the general public that any person who engages in any visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct involving a child, commits an offence and is liable to a custodial sentence of fourteen (14) years. This includes “producing, distributing, receiving, or possessing an image of child pornography.

“In the meantime, all Chrisland Schools within Lagos State are hereby closed, pending further investigations.”

Meanwhile, Chrisland Schools in Victoria Garden City (VGC) had suspended the girl for taking part in “improper behaviour” after playing the truth-or-dare game.

In a letter dated April 14, 2022, the school described her as a “major participant” in indecent conduct which occurred in Dubai.

The school said other schoolmates who took part in the game had been suspended, adding that the girl and her parents did not cooperate during its investigation.

The video of what transpired between the pupil sparked outrage on social media with Nigerians condemning the school and parents for doing a bad job with their upbringing.

Reacting to the development, media personality and free the sheeple founder, Daddy Freeze slammed the parents of the 10-year-old pupil of Chrisland schools whose video went viral on social media.

Freeze via his Instagram page said the school failed thoroughly, so likewise the pupil’s parents.

He asserted that the 10-year-old wasn’t raped, but was involved in a consented act.

He wrote “The parents of this pikin not try one kono. The school no try, but we definitely cannot absolve the parents ah. Naaaaa naaa this is waay too much. Parents raise your kids well o.

“I’m not sure the mother saw that video before making that claim.

“It was in my humble opinion, consenting. The school failed thoroughly and so did the parents of the children involved.

“After closing the school the parents should also be sanctioned.”

Commenting on the incident, Ubi Franklin, a music executive, in a series of tweet via Twitter revealed that the young Nigerian girl who’s the daughter of his friend was selected to represent her school in a sporting game in Dubai.

He added that while at the competition, the girl was raped, videotaped and the video was posted on Instagram a month ago.

He also revealed that a pregnancy test was conducted and the school initially hushed up the case.

The father of the 10-year-old pupil stated that the school authorities at Chrisland School in Victoria Island Garden City suspended his 10-year-old for taking part in improper behaviour after playing the truth-or-dare game, describing her as a major participant.

The school said other schoolmates who took part in the game had been suspended, adding that the girl and her parents did not cooperate during its investigation.

“Consequently, [name redacted) is hereby placed on indefinite suspension until you as the parents ensure that she is punished, adequately counselled, and rehabilitated,” the school said.

This incident is coming up weeks after Sylvester Oromoni, a 12-year-old died under controversial circumstances at Dowen College, another elite school in Lagos.
