    Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom Top in N620b oil derivation revenue sharing

    Nine oil-producing states received a total of N620.23 billion from the federation account as 13 per cent derivation from January to May 2025 with Delta, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom States leading the beneficiaries.

    Data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), show that the amount represents a 101.3 per cent increase compared with the N308.19 billion shared during the same period of 2024.

    The report showed that Delta State received the highest allocation of N185.16 billion, followed by Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom states which got N130.21 billion and N124.79 billion respectively.

    The other beneficiaries were Rivers, N114.06 billion; Edo, N18.60 billion; Ondo, N15.51 billion; Imo, N14.48 billion; Abia, N8.99 billion; and Anambra, N8.42 billion.

    The NBS and FAAC figures showed that the four top beneficiaries — Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers — accounted for more than 88 percent of the total disbursements during the period.

    Further analysis of the report showed that the share for Abia, Imo and Anambra improved remarkably year-on-year.

    Abia, according to the report got N8.99 billion in the first five months of 2025, compared to N2.95 billion in the same period of 2024. The amount represents a 205 percent increase.

    The allocation to Imo increased by 183 per cent from N5.12 billion in 2024 to N14.48 billion in 2025 while Anambra got N8.42 billion in 2025, representing 126 per cent increase from N3.72 billion it got in 2024.

    Bayelsa’s share moved from N58.62 billion to N130.21 billion or 122 per cent, .

    Also, Rivers recorded a 114 per cent increase while Akwa Ibom’s allocation rose by 98 per cent.

    Delta State saw it allocation growing by 82 per cent from N101.50 billion in 2024 to N185.16 billion in 2025 while Edo and Ondo also recorded increases of 69 per cent and 72 per cent, respectively.
