    Engineer breaks Guinness World Records in Mathematics in Akwa Ibom

    An Electronics and Electrical Engineer from Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Uduak Nanga has broken the Guinness World Records in Mathematics.

    Nanga, an indigene of Osuk Ediene in Ikono Local Government Area of the state broke the record having recorded 150 hours in Longest Mathematical Lesson.

    Popularly known as MC Calculus, Nanga is an HND Electronics/Electrical Engineering graduate from the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua in Ikot Ekpene.

    Tagged: Math-a-thon, the race started on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 4 p.m. at King’s Kids Christian International School, Sam Edet Street, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo Local Government Area.

    The GWR title chase was test run for 14 hours to clear off some technical hitches.

    However, Nanga popularly known as Mr. Calculus finally started the journey to break the record on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 11 a.m. and ended on Sunday, April 28 at 11.22 p.m. after solving  Evaluation, Equation and Differentials in Mathematics.

    In an interview with Straightnews on Monday, April 29, the Guinness World Records hopeful thanked God Almighty for giving him strength and knowledge to accomplish the task in seven days.

    He also commended the Chairman and Administrator of Kings Kid Christians International School, Uyo, Professor Etim Udoessien and wife, Dr. Cecilia for their moral, material and financial support towards accomplishing the feat.

    The Engineer was thankful to the  member representing Ikono/Ini nFederal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Rt. Emmanuel Ukpongudo, the  Commissioner for Education, Mrs Idongesit Etiebet and numerous persons for their financial donations and support.

    He called on the state government to employ more Mathematics teachers in the primary and secondary to teach children the subject dreaded by many.

    Nanga further called on the state government to offer scholarships to pupils and students wishing to study Mathematics to serve as a moral booster to them in tertiary institutions.

    Recall that no world record holder exists, though Samuel Oluwapelumi, a Nigerian and a 400-level Mathematics undergraduate of Federal University of Technology, Akure, attempted to clinch the coveted GWR in 84 hours in four days.
