Operatives of Enugu State Police Command have nabbed two notorious robbery suspects at a hotel located around New Haven axis of Enugu metropolis.
Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, said in a statement issued to pressmen in Enugu that the suspects were arrested on Oct. 24 in the early hours of the morning.
Amaraizu said the feat was achieved by police operatives acting swiftly on intelligence information received through the command’s distress call numbers by public-spirited individuals.
He noted that it was gathered that the suspects had allegedly operated in the late night of Oct. 23 at Abakpa Nike axis of the state, where they robbed and ransacked their victims of some valuable items at gun point.
The spokesman noted that after stealing such valuables items as flat screen television sets and some amounts of money as well as handsets and the criminals escaped to avoid being nabbed.
“It was further gathered that the hoodlums left Abakpa and headed to a hotel at New Haven axis of the metropolis from where they took refuge before the operatives acting on intelligence information swooped on them and arrested them.
“The suspects, who gave their names as one Chika Ezenwa and Emmanuel Sunday, are now helping the operatives in their investigations in relation to their nefarious activities in Abakpa and its environs,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mohammed Danmallam, the state Commissioner of Police, has lauded the efforts of the command’s operatives, and assured residents that his command in partnership with sister security agencies and stakeholders would ensure safety in the state.
