FFK Angry With World’s Aloofness Over Carnage In Nigeria As PDP Tackles Buhari On Loans

A social critic and public commentator on issues, Femi Fani-Kayode says he is disillusioned over the aloofness of Nigerians, Africans and the international community on what he called “ethnic cleansing, butchery and carnage in Nigeria.”

Fani-Kayode, an ex-Minister of Aviation in his Twitter handle on Friday wrote: “If Nigerians, Africans & members of the international community expressed 1% of the outrage that they have displayed over the murder of George Floyd for the victims of genocide in Nigeria, the ethnic cleansing, butchery & carnage that we are witnessing today would have ceased long ago.”

According to him, “The truth is that more people have been killed by terrorists in the North West, North East & North Central zones of Nigeria over the last 5 years than in the entire south. Buhari is an even bigger curse to his own constituency than anywhere else. Nigeria deserves better.

“Hundreds of thousands of people are being butchered by terrorists all over the country as Buhari marks his 5 years in office whilst poverty, disease, despair, hunger, fear & COVID-19 ravages the land. What type of man says & does nothing whilst his people are being slaughtered?”

In countering “Buhari’s emergence in 2015 saved Nigeria’s collapse”- @FemAdesina, Fani-Kayode tweeted “Not so my friend! The emergence of Buhari in 2015 annihilated Nigeria & plunged her into darkness, death & destruction. He came to steal, kill & destroy & for the last 5 disastrous years that is all he has done.”

He cited “There are no rivers in Saudi Arabia & no farms in Singapore. There are more lakes in Canada than any country in the world (3 million). There are more people in prison in America than any country in the world (2.5 million), followed by China (1.5 million) & Russia (800,000).

“India is the most diverse country in the world in terms of race, religion, culture & cuisine. Somalia is the most unstable & dangerous country in the world. Canada has the most educated population in the world (50%). Nauru has the most obese population in the world (90%).

“America has the largest economy in the world followed by China and Japan. America has the largest and most powerful military in the world followed by Russia, China, India, the United Kingdom and France.

“They are followed by Japan,” the minister added.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticised President Muhammadu Buhari for writing to the House of Representatives to seek approval for a fresh loan totalling $5.513 billion.

In a letter read by the Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila during plenary on Thursday, the President said the loan is meant to finance critical projects in the 2020 budget.

This is as Kola Ologbondiyan, the National Publicity Secretary of PDP in a Twitter handle tweeted on Friday “#NigeriaonAuction: @MBuhari has traveled cap in hands to all corners of the globe sourcing for loans.”

    Ologbondiyan listed, “These are N4.1tn in 2015: N4.4tn in 2016: N7.3tn in 2017: N9.8tn in 2018: N10.7tn in 2019. In 2020, N1.3tn from IMF: N1.5bn from internal borrowing: N8.8tn and N2.1tn.”

However, PDP, in reacting to the president’s request in a statement, said President Buhari is placing the country in an international auction market.

The party argued that the president’s plan to take a fresh loan in addition to an earlier $22.79 billion (N8.5 trillion) would compromise the fiscal integrity of the nation.

PDP maintained that incessant borrowing by President Muhammadu Buhari administration will expose “Nigerians to the risk of modern-day slavery by mortgaging our future to economic appropriation by foreign interests.”
