A Nigerian social media commentator and critic alleges that he has uncovered plots by the Federal Government to impeach the governors of Akwa Ibom and Benue states.
The governors are Udom Emmanuel and Samuel Ortom of Akwa Ibom and Benue states.
Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide to to then Goodluck Jonathan, made this allegation via his Twitter handle on Wednesday, said he has it on good authority that Buhari-led government is doing all it could to impeach the two governors.
It will be recalled that Ortom left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a little while ago, after some internal unresolved issued – which prompted him to join the PDP, his former party.
Ortom recently noted that, since he left the APC, he could now pay salaries, owing to the fact that, he no longer worries about godfathers.
Governor Emmanuel’s problem may be linked to the crisis engulfing Akwa Ibom House of Assembly in which he is accused of sponsoring the speaker of the house, Onofiok Luke to have declared the seats of five members who defected from Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to All Progressives Congress, APC vacant.
As a result, security operatives have locked up the house for fear of the five members whose seats were declared vacant on Monday acting in a manner that may result in a breakdown of law and order in the state.
Omokri, via Twitter, wrote:
The Governors of Benue and Akwa-Ibom should brace up. I have it on good authority that the Buhari administration is determined to do all it can to impeach them. Akwa-Ibom Governor is first (to get funds for 2019) then Benue. Nigerians diligently protect your democracy.”
