After months of rumour and denials, Femi Fani-Kayode, former Minister of Aviation, has finally bid farewell to Peoples Democratic Party by joining All Progressives Congress.

FFK who has been a strong critic of the ruling APC had vowed in the past that he would rather die than join APC or bow to President Buhari.

Yahaya Bello, governor of Kogi, on Tuesday, February 10, 2021 claimed that Fani-Kayode had crossed over to the APC.

Addressing reporters after revalidating his APC membership in Okene then, Bello said Fani-Kayode is now a member of the ruling party.

However in a swift reaction, FFK countered that he has not left the struggling PDP.

But, today, September 16, the Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the APC, and governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, presented FFK to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja as an APC member.

Speaking to state House correspondents after meeting the President, FFK said that he was led by the Spirit of God in his decision.

According to him, he joined APC to help for the unity of the country and that he was against anything that would cause the disintegration of Nigeria.

The former Minister said that he was instrumental in the defection of three PDP governors to the APC.

The governors, he mentioned, were Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, Ben Ayade of Cross River State and Bello Matawale of Zamfara State.

He added that he has friends across party lines and was wooing the governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde and the governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed to join the ruling party.
