Jack Dorsey, the founder and former CEO of the microblogging website Twitter, has launched a new social media platform called “Bluesky.”

This happened just a week after business tycoon and owner of Tesla cars, Elon Musk, took over ownership of Twitter after payment of about $44 billion.

Dorsey’s new app, which is in its testing stage, already has over 30,000 people signed up for its beta testing within two days of the announcement.

According to Business Insider, Bluesky’s website stated that the new platform gives creators independence from platforms and developers and the freedom to design, allowing users to choose their experience.

Dorsey co-founded Twitter 17 years ago and briefly served as its CEO. He returned as CEO from 2015 to 2021 when he resigned.

Meanwhile, Bluesky has announced a number of job openings which include mobile application developer, react native expert, animation creator, and UI site manager.

    Twitter lays off staffers

Dozens of Twitter employees were laid off and many of them took to Twitter to announce they no longer work with the platform.

Twitter confirmed mass layoffs Thursday, November 3, telling staff they’d hear whether they were affected the next day.

Friday, November 4, many Twitter employees received termination emails.

The affected employees took to Twitter to share their experiences after being laid off by the company in Elon Musk’s first week of ownership.

More than 1,000 people had already been let go by around 11 p.m. PST, hitting every department and ranging from the US to the UK to Singapore.

One person in New York said their “entire team” of 30-plus people had been laid off, while another worker estimated 90% of their team had been cut.

Dozens of employees posted on Twitter that they had been laid off, in many cases using the hashtags #OneTeam and #LoveWhereYouWorked, as well as blue heart and salute emojis.

People who posted tweets saying they had been laid off included people in managerial and leadership roles.

Some expressed their anger and said that would challenge their termination.
