The contrversial Catholic Priest and Spiritual Director, Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Nigeria, Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka, has made a volte-face on President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election by endorsing him for a second term.

Although Mbaka predicted the election of Muhammadu Buhari in 2014, he in his 2018 New Year message predicted that President Buhari would not be re-elected during the February 2019 presidential election.

In October 2018, he predicted that Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, would defeat Buhari during the forthcoming general election.

Contrary to public expectation, the Rev Father pulled out another one that neither Buhari nor Atiku would win the election. He temporarily put his admirers and readers on suspense.

However, during his 2019 New Year message and annual 31st cross-over night, Mbaka endorsed Buhari, saying  “Among all the presidential aspirants, Buhari stands in best position to win the presidential election.”

He enumerated the achievements of President Buhari to include the construction of Enugu- Onitsha Expressway and the construction of second Niger Bridge.

He prelate also applauded what he said was the agricultural revolution of the Buhari government, noting that “what happens in the Ministry of Agriculture such as massive production of rice is unprecedented in Nigeria’s agricultural history.

“In all this, we urge Nigerians to vote President Buhari in order to complete his eight years tenure and after which he will hand over to a younger candidate,” Father Mbaka said.

He said the three years of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in power could not be equated with 16 years of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in measuring governance.

On Enugu State government, Fr Mbaka praised Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his good work in Enugu state, saying that since the inception of democracy Enugu State had not got a good leader like Ugwuanyi.

On the area of security, Mbaka said Enugu State had been the pace setter of peace, and admonished the people of the state to vote for him in order to finish his good work.

Mbaka also told Enugu State governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Ayogu Eze, to forget his governorship ambition for Governor Ugwuanyi to finish his second tenure.
