The German giants, Bayern Munich trounced Tigres 1-0 in the FIFA Club World Cup final to cart home another prestigious cup on Thursday.

CBS Sports reports that Bayern defeated the underdog Liga MX side after a thrilling back-and-forth battle between the two sides.

The Bundesliga club and reigning Champions League winners found the breakthrough in the 59th minute on a goal from Benjamin Pavard.

The trophy for Bayern is their sixth in eight months as they’ve also captured the Champions League, Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, DFL-Super Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.

A fast-paced first half between the two sides led to some thrilling moments during the final, as both sides tried to match tempo on the ball.

Bayern’s press on the ball during the first 45 was a struggle for Tigres to unlock, but the Mexican side found brief moments of opportunity largely thanks to combination play from Luis Quinones and strong play from Andre Pierre-Gignac.

Strong, consistent attacking from Alphonso Davies was key for Bayern’s playmaking throughout, as a goal Joshua Kimmich in the 18th minute was overturned with video review as Robert Lewandowski was in an offside position.

VAR was used a second time on Bayern’s go-ahead goal in the 59th minute to review Lewandowski in an offside position once again, but this time the review found that the offside flag had been mistakenly raised.

A flurry of substitutions from Bayern Manager Hansi Flick past the hour mark paved the way for Bayern’s continued pressure, as a lack of subs for Tigres further highlighted their struggles to keep pace as the game progressed.
