All is set for the conferment of awards on the winners of the 11th edition of Akwa Ibom Icons Awards (AKIA 2019) also known as Dakkada Plus.
The event earlier scheduled for September 20 was called off 48 hours to the kick-off time due to some state exigencies.
The voting that commenced on August 15 and ended on August 20, 2019 with 55 nominees who emerged from the 11 different categories.
A press release issued by Prince Ene Baba Owoh, Jr, the executive secretary of AKIA, on Monday, December 2, said Mr. Udom Emmanuel, Akwa Ibom governor will serve as the special guest of honour.
The AKIA award lecture will be presented by Professor Enefiok Essien, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo as the guest speaker.
The awards include Akwa Ibom Legislator of the term (2015-2019), Akwa Ibom Person of the Year (2015-2019), Akwa Ibom Woman of the Year (2015-2019), Akwa Ibom Most Resourceful Youth of the Year (2015-2019) category, Akwa Ibom Company of The Year (2019) and Akwa Ibom Government Project of the Year (2015-2019).
Others are Akwa Ibom Commissioner of the Term, The Akwa Ibom Local Government Chairman of the Year, Akwa Ibom Hotel/Tourist Ambassador of the Year, Akwa Ibom Cleanest Town/LGA Of The Year, and Akwa Ibom Life-Time Ambassador of The Year.
The general public is invited to the prestigious AKIA 2019 Season 4 Conferment awards slated for Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 7 p.m. at Watbridge Hotels and Suites, Uyo.
