    International President, Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio Dies Of Surgery Complications

    The International President of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, a foremost socio-cultural group in Akwa Ibom State, Mr Monday Etokakpan, is dead.

    Etokakpan, according to unconfirmed reports, died on Wednesday after complications during a brain surgery at Ibom Specialist Hospital in Uyo.

    According to the source who spoke to TheMail Newspaper reporter, Etokakpan was in coma after the surgery. All efforts to stabilize him proved abortive as he died in the early hours of Wednesday.

    Etokakpan, was Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel and was set to run for the office of Member Representing Nsit Ibom State Constituency at the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly come 2019.

    His tenure as the 9th International President of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio (MMI) was on the verge of elapsing with election for a new executive scheduled to hold in June 2018.

    He was sworn-in by the Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State as the International President of the foremost socio-cultural group in September 2014 after taking over from Akparawa Nse Ubeh.
