Isha Sesay, former CNN journalist, is joyous after fulfilling her dream of becoming a mother.

The British-trained journalist gave birth to her daughter on February 17, 2023, saying that she is ready for the bumpy adventurous road of motherhood.

Sharing her story on her Instagram, the 47-year-old of Sierra Leonean descent narrated that her daughter’s arrival was preceded by the sudden onset of preeclampsia (High blood pressure during pregnancy).

According to her, Sesay was doubtful but remained steadfast during what she considered dark hours for her and her little tot, saying ‘‘The two are safely at home and resting.’’

The former CNN journalist knew that motherhood was something she desired, but admitting that hers has not been an easy journey.

She wrote: “Her arrival was preceded by the sudden onset of preeclampsia which unleashed skyrocketing blood pressure and in the hours that followed haemorrhaging, toxaemia and fluid overload.

“In the darkest moments, all I could think about was my daughter and she provided the strength that I needed.”

The excited mum revealed the meaning of her toddler’s name: Naimah Yasmine Kadi Sesay. “In keeping with the meaning of her first name, “Naimah,” she is indeed my peace. She is my blessing.”

The renowned journalist said her heart is full and she is ready for the rollercoaster journey of being a mom as it is something she has desired for so long.

“You don’t have pot?” Man catches big fish outside water, releases it back… She had no idea at 47 years old, she would be single and a mum of one.

After breaking up with her man months earlier, Sesay decided to do the scariest thing that she had desired for a long time, having a baby on her own.

The seasoned journalist admitted she did have her doubts after clocking 40 and having no children of her own despite desiring motherhood.

After two unsuccessful IVF cycles, Sesay was giving up hope but decided to try it out the third time. She tried managing her expectations that she would not be devastated if it was not successful.
