Kai Havertz netted a goal as Chelsea emerged champions of the FIFA Club World Cup after beating Brazilian club Palmeiras in the final on Saturday night.

The English Premier League club were crowned champions after an extra-time victory against Palmeiras in Abu Dhabi, where they played 1-1 at full time, before a goal in extra time sealed the win.

It was Kai Havertz who bagged the winner on 117th minute through a penalty.

Recall that Havertz had scored the winning goal for Chelsea in their Champions League final triumph over Manchester City last season.

Victory for Blues means the club have now won every trophy possible under owner Roman Abramovich.

Earlier in the day, African champions Al Ahly thrashed Asian champions Al-Hilal 4-0 to seal third spot, with Odion Ighalo sitting all through on the bench for the Saudis.

Meanwhile, Edouard Mendy who recently won the African Cup of Nations with Senegal at the expense of the Pharaohs of Egypt in Cameroon on Sunday, February 6th, 2022.

Mendy won the UEFA Champions League at the expense of Manchester City in May 2021, he also won the UEFA Super Cup when Chelsea beat Villareal.

The 29-year-old added more feathers to his name this year by winning awards which include the Champions League best keeper award and the FIFA Best award.

Mendy has won FIFA World Club cup to make him a well-decorated goal-keeper.
