The Kano Government has revoked operating licences of private schools in the state over the gruesome murder of a five-year-old pupil, Hanifa Abubukar.
The government took the action amid the outrage over the brutal killing of Hanifa by Abdulmalik Tanko, proprietor of Noble Kids Academy, Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state.
The deceased, who attended the school, was kidnapped and subsequently killed by her school proprietor.

Tanko had confessed to killing her with a rat poison he bought for N100.
Speaking to journalist on Monday, the state Commissioner of Education, Sunusi Sa’id Kiru, said the revoked licences will be reviewed and revalidated after certification.
“I want to use this opportunity to inform everyone that hence, the government has decided to revoke all certificates of private schools in the State.
”We are all aware of the ongoing case of Hanifa; how she was gruesomely murdered by a suspect called Abdulmalik Tanko who is the proprietor of Noble Kids Academy; view of the sad incident, especially regarding how she was murdered in the private school, the State government has decided to withdraw the certificate of all private schools for revalidation.
“The ministry of education will set criteria for their recertification. A panel has been set-up comprising of the ministry of Justice, Department of State Service, (DSS), Civil Defense and other security agencies to look into the revalidation of all private schools in Kano State.”
Meanwhile, the Kano State Government has arraigned three suspects involved in the murder case of the five-year-old Hanifa Abubakar.
The suspects – Tanko Abdulmalik Mohammed the school proprietor, Ishiaku Hamisu, and Fatimah Jibril were arraigned at the Chief Magistrate Court 12, Gidan Murtala.
The court read out the charges of conspiracy, kidnapping, concealing/keeping in confinement a kidnapped person, and culpable homicide, all of which they consented to.
However, the case was adjourned until February 2.
On his part, the Attorney General of Kano State, Musa Abdulahi assured Nigerians that justice will be served in the next one or two months unfailingly.
“What I will like to assure you is that the Ministry of Justice is going to, within the next three to four days, file a charge before the proper court.
“We intend to pursue this case vigorously and within the next month or two, we are going to finish with the prosecution of this case. Pls stay calm, let the law take its course. We are a society of law-abiding citizens.
“We do know that it is very painful when these kinds of things happen, we tend to ask ourselves what is happening with our society but we should understand we are living peacefully because of the laws governing us.
“If not for those laws and security agencies, these suspects would not have been arrested within the shortest possible time.”
