Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, seems to be divided along political party lines as the National Coordinator of the association and All Progressives Congress, APC, stalwart, Alhaji Garus Gololo, has taken a swipe at the National President and General Secretary of the group, Alhaji Muhammadu Kirowo and Baba Ngelzarma, describing them as card-carrying members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Gololo’s outburst came against the backdrop of his condemnation by Kirowo and Ngelzarma for calling on the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to step down or be forced out.
The national president and secretary general of the group had also earlier said Gololo had no mandate to speak for the association, adding that he spoke in his personal capacity.
But in a swift reaction, Gololo maintained that the reaction of the leaders of the association was unnecessary and ill-motivated, insisting that as an APC member he had the right to speak on the matter.
Gololo said: “Let me tell you that the reason the National President of MACBAN, Alhaji Muhammadu Kirowo and the General Secretary, Baba Ngelzarma, are attacking me over my statement on Saraki is the fact that they are PDP men and also card-carrying members of the main opposition.
“Kirowo is not happy that l spoke against his party. All along, l have been from APP to ANPP to CPC and now to APC. So, APC is my party and l am a bonafide member of APC and nothing can change me.
“I have never seen where majority are being ruled by minority; it is not possible and that is why we put it to Saraki that way. Even if they disown me, I’m still a member of MACBAN because in the rule establishing Miyetti Allah, l was in MACBAN before the National President even the General Secretary came and met me. So, l am their senior in the constitution of MACBAN.
“Nobody has the right to send any member away except you have criminal issues which I don’t have.
“I am a member of the APC which l have said before, so those attacking me are for PDP. We have met in the court in Abuja during the case between APC and PDP governorship election in Kebbi State.
“While some of us who are MACBAN and APC members followed the APC governor to the court during the ruling in Abuja, Muhammad Kirowo who is in PDP as National President of MACBAN, also appeared in the court in support of the PDP governorship candidate and at that point, we quarreled to the extent of exchanging blows.
”This happened a few months ago. These are MACBAN PDP members drumming support for Senator Bukola Saraki and we know them in opposition and they are not happy with me.
“Therefore, my statement on Saraki stands: he should vacate his seat as Senate president that’s all we demanded.
”For your information, Buhari will win and win again as President of Nigeria come 2019 by the grace of God.”
