A 50-year-old man has been arrested by operatives of the Niger State Police Command for allegedly stabbing his neighbour severally and for allegedly making love advances at his grand-daughter.

Speaking with our Crime Correspondent at the police command, Tuesday, Malam Sani Yusuf said, “my neighbor, Asabe Zagi, 60 years who is a staff of Bosso Council has been running after my daughter and luring her with SIM cards and other things in order to have carnal knowledge of her.

“He denied it when I confronted him, but as far as I know, I am sure that my allegations are correct and I stabbed him severally to teach him a lesson

He added “I didn’t have the intention of killing him, hence the stabbing but I regret what I have done and I plead for forgiveness,” the accused submitted.

The Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Muhammad Abubakar who confirmed the incident, said the suspect stabbed the victim severally adding that he will soon be arraigned in Court soon.

Meanwhile, two men- Joesph Onoyom and Okon Edet- who defiled two minors, aged 12 and 5 years old respectively, were among the 29 suspects paraded by the Cross Rivers State Police Commissioner, Austin Agbonlahor, Tuesday, in Calabar.

The 45-year-old Joesph Onoyom of N0 1 Joseph Mkpang Street ,Calabar, according to the State Police Commissioner, lured a 5-year–old, Ferida, into his bedroom and pulled off her pant then had carnal knowledge of her.

Speaking further, he said 59-year-old, Okon Edet of Eyo Ishie Street also took advantage of a 12-year-old girl by promising to offset her school fees which he never fulfilled after having carnal knowledge of the girl.

He explained that the 12-year-old, Jennifer Samuel, who was driven out of school for failing to pay her fees and on her way home met Edet Okon, who promised to give her money for her school fees, then he lured her to his house at 12 Eyo Ishie Street where he had carnal knowledge of her without giving her the said money for school fees.

He said: “It was when the victim got home and wanted to have her bath while taking off her pant, her mother saw blood stains on her underwear and inquired from her what happened then she told her mother what the victim did to her then.

“ The five-year-old victim, who was defiled by the 45-year-old, Joshua Onoyom, cautioned her never to mention what happened to anyone, promising to buy her biscuit but her mother noticed that her daughter was screaming painfully when she was bathing her and then asked her what happened before she told her what Edet did to her,’’ he said.

Agbonlahor also told journalists that the minors have been taken to hospital for medical examination and the suspects will be charged to court accordingly, adding that the command will leave no stone unturned in her effort to fight crime and criminals in the state.
