A man, Sunday Etukudo, from Omum Unyam village in the Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of the state is cooling his feet in police command for allegedly killing his daughter, and burying her corpse in the family compound.

A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, Odiko MacDon, on Wednesday, November 2, says the suspect alleged that the deceased, Ofonmbuk Sunday, held his private parts during a scuffle, adding that he hit her with a stick in retaliation and she died.

“Based on credible information, on 9th October, 2022, at about 7.10pm, one Ime Sunday Etukudo of Omum Unyam village in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area, unlawfully killed and buried his daughter, Ofonmbuk Ime Sunday, aged 20, at the family compound at Omum Unyam village.

The suspect alleged that there was a family misunderstanding which led to a fight and that the victim held his manhood and that he, in turn, used a stick to hit her on the head, which led to her death and that he decided to bury her in a shallow grave to cover his track.”

The suspect will be charged to court upon the completion of police investigation.

The police spokesperson also revealed that another man identified as Edet Uyo, has been arrested for the murder of his nephew, Emem Uyo.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that there was a lingering family feud. The suspect, who is the uncle and family head of the deceased, invited him to his residence on the pretext of addressing the problem.

“Rather than doing so, he brought out his machete and cut his face, hand, neck and other parts of his body, leading to his instant death.

“Furthermore, on October 26, around 2 p.m, one Abel Irom Itam, a student of Maurid Polytechnic, had a fight with a fellow student, Precious Johnson, over a power bank.

‘‘The said Johnson died a few hours after he was rushed to a hospital. The suspect, Abel Irom, has been arrested.”
