Shameful scenes burst as Manchester United and Manchester City traded fisticuffs after the derby melee in the Old Trafford tunnel, leaving Mikel Arteta, Manchester City assistant coach with “blood pouring down his face.”

And Manchester United striker, Romelu Lukaku was said to have been “prominently involved” in the 20-man melee which saw punches thrown

Jose Mourinho, Manchester United manager was allegedly hit on the head with water and milk as tensions boiled over following City’s 2-1 derby win.

The Etihad side later downplayed these reports but respected journalist Daniel Taylor claimed witnesses said former Arsenal ace Arteta was left bloodied from the shameful encounter.

Mourinho barged into the City dressing room to confront Pep Guardiola’s players over their “raucous” celebrations following the 2-1 derby victory.

Mourinho is understood to have accused City keeper, Ederson of lacking “respect” as the angry words escalated into a bout of pushing and shoving that saw stewards and the police getting involved.

Romelu Lukaku was said to be have been involved in the brawl

One eye witness told SunSport: “People couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

“It was going crazy for a few seconds, with loads of screaming and shouting. It looked like it might get completely out of control.”

Mourinho, furious at referee Michael Oliver for booking Ander Herrera for a second half dive which he was convinced should have brought a penalty for a foul by match-winner Nicolas Otamendi, had stalked down the tunnel at the end of the game.

The United boss had passed by the City dressing room to head towards the home enclave when the throbbing bass of the music being boomed out as the door open saw him turn around and head back.
