Mbaka, Bakare In Hot Oven Over Buhari’s Prophecies

Against the rising insecurity in the country, some Nigerians in the social media  have dragged two popular clergymen into mud over what they see as failed prophecies on the election of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The preachers are Rev. Fr. Camillus Ejike Mbaka, a Catholic priest and the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Southeast Nigeria and Pastor Tunde Bakare, the Senior Pastor and founder of The Latter Rain Assembly also known as End-Time Church.

While Mbaka had predicted that Buhari was the messiah sent to Nigeria, Bakare, on the other hand, had declared that God told him that Buhari would stabilise Nigeria.

Several years after, Nigerians are bashing the duo on Twitter over their predictions in the past about Buhari government for not living up to the said prophecies.

Many citizens of the country expressed concerns about the current security situation in Nigeria blaming the clergymen for branding Buhari as the messiah Nigerians needed to make things work out well.

Nigerians have pointed accusing fingers at Bakare, a former running mate of Buhari in 2011 general elections for the prophecies credited to him before the 2015 General elections while Mbaka was not also spared for his prophecies about Buhari.

Some are of the opinion that the clergymen should apologise to Nigerians for claiming that God revealed to them that Buhari would stabilise the country, if elected.

@_Jennie1 “Tunde Bakare and father Mbaka told us back then that God said Buhari would stabilize Nigeria.”

@drpenking “Tunde Bakare said God told him that Buhari was going to stabilize Nigeria. I think there is somebody somewhere impersonating God in the ears of Nigerian pastors.”

@DE_COMMUNICATOR “Tunde Bakare and father Mbaka said God told them that Buhari was going to stabilize Nigeria….their statements make them doubt where some men of God hear from”

@jagganiyu “It’s because Nigerians put too much stock in what these so-called men of God say; that’s why we’re surprised Tunde Bakare said Buhari would stabilize Nigeria and the exact opposite happened.”

Many Nigerians have expressed concerns over the spate of killings, kidnappings, insurgency and banditry, noting that the Buhari-led administration appears not to be doing enough to end what many described as alarming and unfortunate happenings in the country.

Earlier, President Buhari had opined that addressing the scourge of insecurity in the country requires a great show of empathy and coming together as a society to confront the danger squarely.

Reacting to the initial killing of three of kidnapped students at Greenfield University, Kaduna, he said the frequent kidnappings and killings in Kaduna State, in particular, are brutal terror attacks.

However, he reiterated his administration’s determination to continue fighting all forms of banditry, kidnapping and criminality with maximum will and all the resources available to our country.
