The immediate-past Permanent Secretary in the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Aniekpeno Mkpanang has been listed as one of the distinguished nominees for the 2023 Pan African American Leadership Award (PAALA).
The Annual Awards Ceremony which is sponsored by the Africa Women in Leadership Organisation (AWLO) is held to celebrate the phenomenal but unsung individuals whose unwavering dedication, passion and leadership have not only touched lives but have also illuminated the path toward a brighter and more equal world.
A press release by the 2023 Host and President USA Chapter of AWLO, Rasheedah Omolade-Sule, said the accomplishments of the nominees are a testament to what is possible when vision, determination and the heart converge.

In a related development, Dr. Elisha Attai, Global President of AWLO, revealed that the organisation received more than 350 nominations from Africa and the Diaspora, out of which only 20 names made it the final list of the distinguished 2023 PAALA winners.
In his pre-Award citation, Mr. Mkpanang is recognised for being an epitome of Creativity, Excellence and Innovation, with an unparalleled zest for peak performance.
The 2023 PAALA Awards ceremony will take place in the city of Atlanta, USA on October 21, 2023 and will be chaired by Senator Donzella James, member since 2009 of the Georgia State Senate from the 35th District.
Mkpanang was a Special Assistant to ex-President Obasanjo, Director of Protocol to ex-Governor Godswill Akpabio, presenter of popular radio programme ‘‘Something to Remember,’’ organizer of the world-class Akwa Ibom Christmas Carol Festival that won the Guinness World Record of 25,272 carol singers, and a recipient of Excellence in Service Award, for his creativity and innovation, presented by ex-Governor Udom Emmanuel.
