— Police arrest Suspect in ₦4.2 million armed robbery, juju-related conspiracy case
A robbery and murder suspect involved in the disappearance and killing of a motorcyclist in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of the State is cooling his feet in the Akwa Ibom State Police dungeon.
This was as police nabbed one Emmanuel Silas, male who led the security personnel to exhume the corpse of the victim.
The Command recalled that ‘‘on or about 11th November 2025, at about 11:00 a.m., the Command received an information that an unidentified commercial motorcyclist was cornered at Ikot Esop Village, robbed of his motorcycle, and subsequently went missing. Following the report, an investigative machinery was immediately activated to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.’’
A press release signed by DSP Timfon John Police, the Command’s Public Relations Officer for Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, Mr. Muhammed Azare on Saturday, February 7, said ‘‘After months of sustained intelligence gathering and investigation, the Command on Friday , 6th February 2026, at about 12:00 noon, arrested one Emmanuel Silas, male, in connection to the crime.

‘‘Upon arrest, the suspect made useful statements to investigators, which led Police operatives to the scene of the crime. There, the victim was discovered to have been murdered and buried in a shallow grave, as indicated by the suspect. The remains were subsequently exhumed, photographed, and preserved for forensic examination and possible autopsy.
‘‘Investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crime, recover the stolen motorcycle, and track down other suspected accomplices who are currently at large.’’
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command assures the public that all individuals involved in this heinous act will be brought to justice, and reiterates its commitment to the protection of lives and property across the State.

In another development, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in the investigation of a grave case of armed robbery, criminal conspiracy, and alleged invocation of juju reported within Uyo metropolis.
”Sometime in November 2025, the Command received a petition dated 20th November 2025. According to the petition, the complainant stated that on 19th November 2025, while standing along Uruan Street, Uyo, to board a commercial vehicle, a saloon car stopped and invited her to enter. Unknown to her, the occupants of the vehicle were members of a criminal syndicate.
”After driving for some distance, the suspects diverted to a different route, produced a firearm, and forcefully robbed her of her ATM card. She was subsequently compelled at gunpoint to disclose her ATM Personal Identification Number (PIN),” the command’s PPRO said.
A press release signed by DSP Timfon John Police, the Command’s Public Relations Officer for Commissioner of Police on Friday, February 6, said ”the suspects allegedly invoked juju, hypnotized the victim, and forcefully escorted her to her residence, where they ransacked her home and robbed her of ₦900,000 in physical cash.
”Further investigation revealed that the syndicate also withdrew an additional ₦3,300,000 from the victim’s bank account through her ATM card, transferring the funds into different bank accounts, bringing the total loss to ₦4.2 million.
”Upon receipt of the report, operatives of the Command immediately swung into action. Following diligent intelligence gathering, the Police on 3rd February 2026 arrested one Benjamin Patrick, male, of No. 29 Ebong Isong Street, Uyo, whose bank account and Point of Sale (POS) terminals were used to withdraw the stolen funds within a five-minute interval.
”The victim positively identified the suspect as one of the individuals who conveyed her in the vehicle where she was robbed of her ATM card. The suspect is currently in custody.
”In the course of investigation, three (3) POS machines used in the illegal withdrawal of the funds were recovered. Investigation is ongoing to uncover the full network, recover the stolen funds, and arrest other members of the syndicate,” the release stated.
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command assures the public that it will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that all perpetrators involved in this heinous crime are brought to justice.
The Command uses this medium to warn criminal elements that Akwa Ibom State is not a safe haven for crime and urges members of the public to remain vigilant, avoid boarding suspicious vehicles, and promptly report suspicious activities to the Police.
