    NIA Bestows Human Development Champion Award on Rep Idem

    The member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Unyime Idem was, Thursday, bestowed with the “Human Development Champion” award by the Nigeria Institute of Architects (NIA), Akwa Ibom State Chapter.
    The NIA Chairman, Akwa Ibom Chapter, Dr. Edidiong Ukpong, who announced this during a courtesy visit on him in his office in Abuja, said the award is in recognition of his efforts in building young Akwa Ibom youths in their respective areas of endeavour to compete at the global stage.
    Ukpong also hailed him for his projects and programmes, which cut across human capacity and physical infrastructure, across the Federal Constituency.
    Accompanied by other executive members, Ukpong acknowledged that Idem’s achievements complement the ARISE Agenda of Governor Umo Eno, which is aimed at directly improving the lives of citizens, as well as repositioning the procurement system in the country.

    “As a professional body, we are keenly following your leadership role in the House of Representatives Committee on Public Procurement and expectant that your wonderful policies will bring sanity to the procurement system in Nigeria,” he said.
    Responding, Rep Idem thanked the NIA for identifying my modest efforts at attracting dividends of democracy to his people, noting that I am inspired by the honour to do more.
    Idem who is also the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Public Procurement, charged the Institute on upholding global standards in the discharge of their duties, reminding them of their primary duties of ensuring designs comply with all building codes and regulations.

     Given the spate of collapse of buildings in the country and attendant effects, he called on the body ”to be upright in their dealings, in order to maintain the integrity of the profession, so that we can minimize loss of lives and resources in Nigeria to the barest minimum.”
    𝗜dem bags 𝗜𝗖𝗦𝗔𝗡 𝗔ward of Excellence  in Corporate Governance
    Meanwhile, Rep. Idem, equally bagged an Award of Excellence in Corporate Governance, by the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN).
    The award was bestowed on Rep. Idem during the Uyo Chapter of the Institute’s 6th Annual Summit, with the theme “Redefining Governance in a Dynamic Regulatory Era: Aligning Policy, Compliance, and Corporate Strategy,” held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
    ICSAN said it idealizes and encourages excellence through its core principles of accountability, responsibility, transparency, ethical and best corporate governance practices, criteria which Rep. Idem fits perfectly into.
    The Institute further noted that the award is in recognition of Rep. Idem’s unwavering commitment to excellence in corporate governance, human capacity development and his remarkable contributions to policy formulations at the National Assembly.
    Receiving the award, Rep. Idem, Ph.D, who was represented at the event by the immediate past Chairman of Ukanafun Local Government Area, Godwin Inyieng, Ph.D, thanked ICSAN for the honour, noting that ”he is inspired to do more for the people of his Federal Constituency, and indeed Akwa Ibom State.”
    Idem charged members of the Institute to embrace innovations that redefine governance, enhance productivity, encourage team work and reward excellence.
