Nigeria recorded 1,633 COVID-19 new cases, bringing the total number to 120,602 in the country.
Nigeria Centre for Disease Control in it official Twitter handle on Saturday confirmed five new deaths, bringing the overall number to 1,502 in the country.
Already, 95,901 persons treated have been officially discharged in Nigeria.
This is as Akwa Ibom State recorded 50 new infections on Saturday, bringing the total number to 775 while 464 have been discharged and 10 persons had died.
‘’On the 23rd of January 2021, 1,633 new confirmed cases and 5 deaths were recorded in Nigeria,’’ NCDC wrote.
‘’The 1633 new cases are reported from 21 states- Lagos (498), Plateau (214), FCT (176), Rivers (99), Kaduna (98), Edo (87), Anambra (86), Akwa Ibom (50), Osun (47), Kano (40), Oyo (40).’’
Others are ‘’Kwara (39), Ebonyi (28), Niger (28), Taraba (28), Ogun (27), Ondo (21), Ekiti (12), Katsina (7), Borno (6) and Delta (2).’’
The public health agency stated ‘’A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response activities.
‘’Our discharges today includes 573 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines.’’
