Nigeria has recorded death of 23 persons, the highest number in a day since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country in February last year.
This is as the country recorded 1,479 new confirmed cases on Thursday, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control reported.
Of the number recorded in 24 states including Federal Capital Territory, Lagos registered 697 cases while FCT and Nasarawa got 201 and 80 respectively.
From Akwa Ibom, the state recorded 35 more cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 588.
NCDC tweeted ‘’On the 14th of January 2021, 1479 new confirmed cases and 23 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.
”The 1479 new cases are reported from 25 states- Lagos (697), FCT (201), Nasarawa (80), Plateau (74), Rivers (62), Edo (46), Adamawa (43), Osun (39), Akwa Ibom (35), Delta (31).”
Others are: ”Anambra (27), Oyo (24), Kano (21), Abia (19), Enugu (19), Ogun (18), Sokoto (12), Bauchi (7), Taraba (7), Ekiti (4), Gombe (4), Imo (4), Bayelsa (2), Jigawa (2), and Zamfara (1).’’
On the number of caseloads, it stated ”Till date, 105478 cases have been confirmed, 83830 cases have been discharged and 1405 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
”A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response activities.’’
