A Nigerian Pharmacist is being detained by Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja for more than 300 days without trial for alleged criticisms of President Muahmmadu Buhari.

Human right activist, Omoyele Sowore who stated this has called out President Buhari’s government to release the Pharmacist, Emmanuel Akuma, who is in their custody.

Sowore tweeted on Tuesday, January 12 that the young man by the name Emmanuel Akuma has been apprehended by Nigerian police on account of criticising the government.

The publisher of Sahara Reporters who was kept in police custody for about 11 days was released from detention on Monday, January 11 after the court granted him a N20 million bail.

He, therefore, called on netizens and government to release the innocent young man.

Recall that Emmanuel, a pharmacist intern with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), was arrested on April 2, 2020, in Aba, Abia State.

The 29-year-old was arrested for tweeting that he would “pay a Russian sniper to eliminate Buhari and Kyari,” apparently referring to President Buhari and his then Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, who later died of COVID-19 complications later in the year.

The tweet was in response to a Twitter post asking respondents what their next move would be if they got $1 million.
