Nigerian Senators were silent in supporting the motion of Senator Natasha Uduaghan-Akpoti during the plenary on Tuesday, October 14.

After Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan representing Kogi Central Senatorial District proposed an amendment to a motion addressing the violation of Nigerian immigrants’ rights in Libya, the Senator did not support the motion.

This might not have been unconnected with misunderstandings Natasha had in leveling sexual harassment allegation against the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio coupled with the ruling of Federal High Court, Abuja to tender unreserved apology to Senate, which she refused.

The Senate had a robust debate on the motion earlier today. During the deliberation, Senator Natasha called on the Senate to look into the plights of Nigerian women in Libyan prisons.

She stated that Nigerian women who are incarcerated in Libyan prison have been converted to s#x slaves solely to satisfy the orgies of the prison warders. She said that many of the female prisoners now have children they are taking care of in prison.

She called on the red chambers to mandate the Immigration service to liaise with the Libyan authorities to have such women repatriated.

After making her input, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, called for any of her colleagues to second her motion. None of them including the female senators stood up to second her motion.

The awkwardness lingered for a moment until the Senate leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, stood up to save the day.
