A high-level delegation from Nsik Oil and Gas Company Limited, in partnership with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund (MDGIF), has embarked on a factory acceptance visit to China to inspect equipment for its upcoming Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Mother Station facility.

The delegation, which  includes representatives from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Regulatory Authority, and other technical partners, would ensure that all equipment meet global standards before their shipment to Nigeria.

The mission, undertaken alongside key Nigerian regulatory agencies, represents a major step in consolidating the Renewed Hope vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Arise Agenda of the Led Pastor Umo Eno’s Government of Akwa Ibom State.

The visit is focused on conducting technical evaluations and compliance checks on advanced CNG processing and distribution systems being fabricated by Chinese manufacturers.

Speaking at the inspection site at Shanghai, China,  the Managing Director of Nsik Oil and Gas Limited, Mr. Nsikan Johnny, noted that the partnership with the MDGIF reflects a strong public-private synergy aimed at accelerating Nigeria’s transition to cleaner and more affordable energy.

“This project is a demonstration of how collaboration between government, regulators, and the private sector can drive national development,’’ he stated.

According to the Project Consultant, Mr. Mkposong Asuquo, the CNG facility will not only ease the burden of rising fuel costs but will also stimulate industrial growth, create jobs, and contribute to energy security.

Officials of the MDGIF and NMDPRA underscored the importance of the facility in expanding Nigeria’s gas value chain, adding that investments of this nature are critical to achieving the federal government’s target of CNG adoption as a mainstream alternative fuel for transport and industry.

When completed, the Nsik Oil CNG hub will provide reliable gas distribution channels across Southern Nigeria, powering vehicles, industries, and households.

The project is directly aligned with President Tinubu’s vision of a gas-driven economy under the Energy Transition Plan as well as the Arise Agenda of Governor Umo Eno, which prioritises industrialisation, energy access, and sustainable economic empowerment.

Industry experts view the project as a game-changer for Nigeria’s downstream sector, with potential to reduce dependence on imported petroleum products, lower carbon emissions, and consolidate Nigeria’s position as Africa’s gas hub.

The delegation is expected to conclude its technical inspections this week, after which shipment of the equipment to Nigeria will commence, paving the way for installation and commissioning of the facility.
