The recent obsequies of Gabriel Emmanuel Nkanang, a teacher and church elder, turned out to be a high-powered national significance.
Nkanang whose son, Udom is the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, had left for an eternal home in a blaze of glory. As his remains were lowered into the grave in his native land- Awa Iman, Onna local government area of the state, he must have sung like the Biblical Simeon Lord, let their servant depart in peace for my eyes have seen their salvation.
The high and mighty across political and religious lines sank their differences and turned up in their numbers to grace the occasion that marked a farewell to a man who had spent the active years of his life nurturing many pupils, who today are men of no mean standing.
Former Presidents, current Vice President, current and former Senate Presidents, serving and former governors, political big wigs – current and past political gladiators all showed up in their sparkling attires.
The huge attendance at the funeral appeared to have replicated the prophetic unction by Archbishop Nick Duncan Williams. On October 6, 2019, Governor Emmanuel attended his Action Chapel International ministry with headquarters in Accra, Ghana for a thanksgiving opportunity following his victory at the March 2019 Governorship election where his political party (PDP) triumphed. His slogan of “Only GOD” reverberated in the chamber of the church.
It was indeed a very significant moment that providence had bestowed on the governor as renowned and revered American Apostle, Chuck Pierce, who was on the third day of the Prophetic mission to Ghana, was at the event. Pierce is one of the two men who led the 50 state tour of prayers that changed the course of events in the USA, leading to the failure of former Vice President Al Gore to succeed former President Bill Clinton.
The presentation of a sword to Governor Emmanuel by ArchBishop Duncan Williams and the flood of prophetic utterances by the Archbishop, Apostle Pierce, and his team seemed to have been re-echoed at the funeral rites of his father to prove that the Governor is yet to complete his assignment at the Hiltop Mansion, Uyo.
Nigeria seems to be beckoning on this former auditor, financial controller, banking executive, former secretary to the state government and now governor to come to her aid.
There is no doubt that Akwa Ibom is no longer wearing the toga, Can anything good come out of Nazareth? It is now the place of Come and see, as the land of promise may soon become the land of fulfilment.
