Some prominent Nigerians were, Sunday, unanimous on the outcome of Osun State governorship election in calling on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to respect the will of the people by announcing free and fair election result.
The INEC, Sunday, declared that Peoples Democratic Party, PDP was leading All Progressives Party, APC in the inconclusive election and rescheduled the re-run for Thursday, September 27, this year.
Reacting in his Twitter handle, Chief OIusegun Obasanjo, Nigeria’s president who ruled from 1999 to 2007 tweeted “The people of Osun have spoken through their votes. No one or cabal should make the mistake of provoking the poor further by rigging the winner out, because the consequences would be too dire. We should all respect the will of the people.”
In his Twitter handle, Ibrahim B. Babangida, the military president who ruled the country from 1985 to 1992, wrote “Whatever the outcome of the Osun gubernatorial election is, INEC should declare a free and fair result. The people of Osun have spoken.”
Bukola Saraki, the Senate President condemned INEC for declaring the election inconclusive “In my layman’s opinion, @INECNigeria was wrong in declaring the Osun Gubernatorial election as inconclusive because the votes in certain polling units were cancelled.”
Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West wrote “APC and INEC my advice is DONT test the people’s will.”
Femi Fani-Kayode, a one-time Minister of Aviation mocked some Nigerians and APC over the outcome of the election, “The result of the Osun state election is the beginning of the political funeral rites of: 1. Asiwaju BolaTinubu. 2. Rauf Aregbesola. 3. The APC. The final burial will be on Thursday 27th September 2018 when the @OfficialPDPNig’s Demola Adeleke reclaims his stolen mandate.”
Fani-Kayode, therefore, congratulated the Senator Ademola Adeleke and PDP “I am so proud of the @OfficialPDPNig in Osun.Congrats to my friend and brother Demola Adeleke. Now is the time for us to reach out and work with others. I will talk to my cousin Iyiola Omisore. He is a fighter. We need him. We must join forces and send the APC demons packing.”
Reno Omokri, who was aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, tweeted “Have you noticed how quiet it‘s been on the timeline of @OfficialAPCNg. They have not tweeted for 3 days. Similarly President @Mbuhari and @ProfOsinbajo have been quiet. The Osun situation stunned them. They may be the party in power, but there is definitely no power in the APC.”
