The Akwa Ibom Christmas Carols Festival 2018 arrayed in artistes of international and local mix will set Uyo, the state capital with unusual gospel performances in a blaze of glory.
An official message from the website of the festival says “The Akwa Ibom Christmas Carols Festival is an annual evening celebration of songs and dance with thousands of voices raised in worship to God. This festival brings together a host of worshippers and features a large assembly of carol singers and some of the best local and international gospel artistes of our time.
“Today, the Akwa Ibom Christmas Carols Festival has grown in magnitude and repute to become a glittering festival of Christian songs, dance, worship and fun recognized and attended by top Artistes and worshipers from across the world.”
It is expected feature limitless worship, spectacular dances and unimaginable praise, among others.
According to the message “This year’s carol night will be filled with songs, dance and electrifying performances by 3000 Carol Singers and outstanding choirs from West Africa. There shall be special appearances from award-winning international artistes and a host of phenomenal Nigerian Gospel Artistes.”
Pastor Paul Adefarasin, the Lead Pastor of House on the Rock Church and host of the Lagos Experience Gospel Musical Concert, will be the officiating Minister at this year’s carols festival.
The 55-year-old Adefarasin will do justice to the theme of this year’s festival Let the people say Amen.
He is a Christian minister, author, televangelist and architect, hosting the weekly television religious programme, Something Is About to Happen!, which is broadcast throughout Africa and Europe.
Major artistes pencilled for performance are Angela Christie, Midnight Crew, Harmonious Chorale, Ghana; Voices of Triumph, Ghana; Nicole Muen, Eben, Preye, Mercy Chinwo, Hope David and Elsie Williams.
Others are Bongos Ikwue, Pat Ekwere, James Okon, Uduak Akpan, Aity Denis and Schubert Chorale, Abuja, Akwa Ibom State Government Choir and 3,000 Carol Singers.
The festival slated for Friday, December 21, 2018 at Uyo Sports Stadium will start at 5 p.m.
“We would love you to be a part of this year’s event by attending the event live at the Uyo Township Stadium. Admission starts by 3p.m.
“We don’t want you to miss this event just in case you cannot attend live. Provisions have been made for live broadcast on TV and through the internet. Live Tranmission starts by 7 p.m,” the message concludes.
The festival made its debut in 2008 when it was then known as the Akwa Ibom Christmas Carols Night.
