The South South Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) returned some executive members to man the party’s machinery for another four years during its just-concluded Zonal Convention.
The members were reaffirmed by delegates of the South-South Zonal Executive Committee of the party on Tuesday at Obi Wali Events Centre, Port Harcourt in Rivers State.
The zonal elective congress saw the affirmation of Chief Dan Osi Orbih from Edo State as South-south zonal Chairman and Hon. Felix Omenu from Bayelsa State as Zonal Secretary.
From Akwa Ibom State, Bishop Ante Ante was returned as the Zonal Publicity Secretary while Chief Monday Akpan got back the position of Zonal Ex-Officio.
The delegates also elected the immediate past State Chairman of the PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo as National Ex-Officio of the Party.
Meanwhile, stakeholders of Akwa Ibom State chapter of PDP have restated their stance on remaining true to the cause of the party and promoting the party’s ideals in the state. They noted that as one of the states which have been controlled by PDP since 1999, Akwa Ibom will not fail to keep the party’s flag flying without wavering.
The acting State Chairman of PDP, Hon Lawrence Udosen, appreciated delegates from Akwa Ibom who showed up to make the state proud at the South-south zonal convention, adding that the party in the state is heading the right direction.
He congratulated the candidates from the state who emerged successful at the zonal election and expressed optimism that they will make the state proud in their given responsibilities.
The National Legal Adviser of the party, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, expressed confidence that the party will grow stronger and remains the reference political party in providing the people-centric governance the nation needs, especially at this time. He encouraged party faithful to remain unwavering in their commitment to the party.
Lending their voices too, political leader of Nsit Ubium, Senator Effiong Bob, elder statesman, Senator Ibok Essien, as well as the member representing Etinan Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Barr) Onofiok Luke, among others, spoke glowingly about PDP and expressed hope for better days.
