The Nigeria Police Force, Akwa Ibom Command says its combined team has killed the notorious criminal, one Isaac, alias Stainless, who had been terrorising Ukanafun and Etim Ekpo local government areas.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi, said this when he briefed newsmen in Uyo on the security situation of Ukanafun and Etim Ekpo LGA on Thursday.
The CP said that after the death of a notorious criminal known as Akaninyene Jumbo alias Iso Akpafid, on January 15, 2018, Stainless assumed leadership and continued to terrorise the communities.
He said that Isaac, alias Stainless, was killed by combined security team on Tuesday, April 17 at about 10.30 p.m.
The commissioner of police said that the command had to re-strategise to deal with Ukanafun and Etim Ekpo criminals to bring sanity to the communities.
“Joint operations of the security agencies in the state led to the death of Iso Akpafid on January 15, 2018.
“The People’s jubilation was however cut short by the emergence of a wicked and brutal self-crowned successor to Iso Akpafid, who adopted the title Stainless.
“Stainless led other hoodlums on a revenge mission and unleashed terror on the area by killing, maiming, raping, kidnapping, issuing of threat letters and burning of houses indiscriminately.
“Our efforts received a boost at about 22:30 hours of Tuesday, April 18, 2018 with the death of the current and most brutal gang leader, known as Stainless by his victims but whose real name is Isaac, but known to the security community as Baggy Short.
“After serious exchange of gun fire, thus effectively bringing to an end the reign of terror of Iso Akpafid and his lieutenants in Etim Ekpo and Ukanafun,” he said.
The commissioner of police urged criminals to stay clear from Akwa Ibom as security operatives would smoke them out.
He advised parents to monitor their children and wards especially those in higher institutions to stay off cultism, adding that the police has collaboration with institutions management to rusticate and prosecute anyone caught in cultism.
He appealed to all Akwa Ibom residents to continue to furnish the command with useful information that would led to arrest of criminals in the state.
He commended all sister security agencies and their gallant officers for the success recorded in the state.
